Brown Mackie Colleges Voluntary Participation in Yellow Ribbon Program Helps Veterans Offset Educational Costs

7/23/2009

(CINCINNATI, OH JULY 23, 2009) — Brown Mackie College announced today that all Brown Mackie College schools in the United States have been approved to participate in the Yellow Ribbon program, a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008.

As a participant in the Yellow Ribbon Program, in states where Brown Mackie College schools have tuition rates greater than the amount the GI Bill benefits cover, the institutions will voluntarily be able to provide tuition assistance to veterans to help offset all or some of their education costs.  The Yellow Ribbon Program allows institutions of higher learning the ability to assist with tuition costs exceeding the GI Bill’s current maximum benefit rate, based on the highest public in-state undergraduate tuition rate in the applicable state.  Brown Mackie College schools will contribute an additional amount to eligible veterans to offset those expenses and The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will match the same amount as the school.  The amounts available and conditions depend on the Brown Mackie College school and the state in which it is located.

“Brown Mackie College family of schools is delighted to be part of such a valuable program; a program that provides our veterans the opportunity to pursue their educational goals, says Danny Finuf, President of Brown Mackie Colleges. It’s an honor and privilege to give back to those who do so much for our country.”

Veterans who have served at least 36 months of active duty following September 10, 2001, were honorably discharged after 30 days of active duty following September 10, 2001 and dependents eligible for Transfer of Entitlement under the Post- 9/11 GI Bill based on a veteran’s service under the two prior criteria listed are eligible for the funding provided by the program.

Eligible veterans may contact the Student Financial Services department at Brown Mackie College school they are interested in attending to learn more about Brown Mackie College school’s Yellow Ribbon Program participation.
