About Us > History

Brown Mackie College — Findlay was founded in 1926 by William H. Stautzenberger to provide solid business education at a reasonable cost. In 1960, the College was acquired by George R. Hawes, who served as its president until 1969. In the following years, it was operated by other school organizations until reacquired by Hawes in 1978. In September 1997, the College was acquired by Stautzenberger College Education Corporation. In 1999 the College changed its name to Southern Ohio College — Findlay, and in 2001, to AEC Southern Ohio College. AEC Southern Ohio College was acquired by Education Management Corporation on Sept. 2, 2003. In November of 2004, the name was changed to Brown Mackie College — Findlay.
