(Fort Mitchell, KY - May 31, 2008) Brown Mackie College - Northern Kentucky is now offering an Associate of Applied Science degree program in Occupational Therapy Assistant.
The new program provides students with the opportunity to gain the knowledge, skills, practice and professionalism necessary to obtain an entry-level position as an occupational therapy assistant. Under the direction of an occupational therapist, the objective of the program is to train students to administer occupational therapy treatments to individuals who have lost functional abilities due to illness, injury, or disease.
"The Associate of Applied Science degree program in Occupational Therapy Assistant will help fill a need in our medical community. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2008-09 Edition, employment of occupational therapist assistants and aides is expected to grow 25 percent from 2006 to 2016,"stated Rick Lemmel, president, Brown Mackie College - Northern Kentucky.
Students will have a solid foundation in all areas of occupational therapy. The curriculum is designed to focus on the core values in an occupation based client centered manner, engaging clients across the lifespan in occupation, and the use of practical performance and critical thinking skills for entry-level employment.
Brown Mackie College - Northern Kentucky is presently enrolling students into the program for the July 2008 start.
